Summer flowers often remind me of a well written story—the subtle range of colors and texture have an intriguing depth and complexity that invite you to forget about all else for the moment and lose yourself in their beauty.

During last night’s plotting walk, I suddenly thought of a way to unravel a knot in the story. (My walking companions were delighted to hear it . . . though they did ask to make a cameo appearance in my next book in return for their editorial advice.) Feeling quite pleased with myself, I joined my new friends in calling it a day and toddling back home.
